About Us
Tipperary Energy Agency was established in 1998 by the Tipperary Local Authorities and LIT Tipperary (then Tipperary Institute) as an independent social enterprise. Our goal is to support sustainable energy use in all sectors. Our team of experts are committed to providing a comprehensive range of energy services to achieve this goal. We have the technical expertise, contacts and ability to access funding that drives sustainable energy projects to succeed.
Our range of services includes strategic energy management advice, energy project management and energy audits. We have led major housing retrofit schemes, pioneering community wind farm developments and numerous successful biomass projects as well as overseeing Ireland’s largest Photovoltaic project. We strive to implement viable sustainable energy solutions that will reduce costs and energy use.
Our social enterprise model enables us to provide cost effective professional services at a local and national level. We collaborate with Third Level Institutions on EU research and projects and have successfully completed over 25 European demonstration projects. These projects have focused on areas such as Renewable Energy, Sustainable Transport, Building Energy Performance and Bioenergy. This international project experience has helped us develop our skills and expertise even further, while at the same time showcasing our successful renewable energy projects and experience.
We currently have 13 staff members working for the agency. Our CEO, Paul Kenny, was named Green Leader of the year for 2013. Paul has been working with the agency since 2006 and is involved with both renewable energy (wind and bio-energy) and energy efficiency projects. Paul’s key technical competencies are in the areas of wind, biomass and solar energy development, energy efficiency in domestic and commercial buildings and energy efficiency in the water industry.
