Tipperary Energy Agency has been successful in securing funding as part of the Grundtvig Learning Partnership and is offering 8 people the opportunity of all-expenses paid green trip to Holland in April.
The Grundtvig programme seeks to improve the quality and European dimension of adult education. It aims to make lifelong learning opportunities more widely available to everyone in Europe.
This is the fourth of five trips. The first was to Leuven in Belgium. The second trip saw the participants travel to Tipperary, where they visited Templederry Community Wind Farm, Cloughjordan Ecovillage, Drombane-Upperchurch Energy Team and Gurteen Agricultural College. The third trip saw the participants visit strong examples of low resource use in Italy. A future trip to Turkey is also planned for later in the year.
This trip to Holland will take place from April 22nd – 24th 2015. Some of the highlights of the trip will include visits to;
- De Cluft, a social initiative/community centre active since 1977 which plays an important role for both young and old with courses such as flower arranging, painting, pottery, computer training, dancing gymnastics, crafts, etc.
- Landgoed Scholtenszathe, an agricultural enterprise where participants will learn about agriculture technology and sustainable energy
- Drenthe College, where participants will take part in a workshop and learn about financing local energy initiatives
